We apologies for the past few weeks without a website this has been due to updating the website with a new builder, a more clean and modern look as well as a new mobile compatibility. We hope you like our new website and the new features it has also feel free to subscribe to the News blog's RSS feed for the latest updates Sorry for the lack of updates on our website. A lot has happened over the past year especially the last 10 months. I myself had a shock in October when I was savagely attacked by a dog we were caring for. It wasn’t a pedigree dog but was a large dog and my left leg was severely damaged with 28 wounds and a broken ankle, 2 operations with more pending. 10 months later I am still having problems with the leg and it will never be the same. The reason for me highlighting this is to make people aware that dogs are and always will be a dog. We all humanise our beloved pets and treat all dogs the same as ours but there is always and underlying wildness to them. I was asked if one of my cockers had done this in the early days and my reply was that if a cocker attacked its jaw couldn’t inflict so much damage and I stand by that. However, any canine can inflict skin damage, rip, tear and damage nerves and tendons. Powerful dogs as demonstrated can break and damage bone. When choosing your dog, look at the dog in great detail, know its background. I think mongrels make great pets but try and look what breeds are behind the dog. Do your homework and read, read and read. I have only just been able to type this news as it has been far to painful to write. At the beginning of March 2014 we lost one of our cockers at 5 years old. Young Morse aka Jayzander Morse Code. All our cockers are special but this young man had something none of the others have ever had and he was the most lovable character I have ever known. Morse passed away following a short illness that was either a suspected brain tumour or brain lesion. That is all I can still say for now as the pain is still far too raw for us all here. Claire Jinks’ beautiful blue roan boy has had a really good run recently in the showing world. At West of England Cocker club champ show he held his own in the open dog class and gained his stud book number. Obviously I am thrilled to bits for both Ronnie and Claire, a fabulous achievement, but he is gorgeous. I might be biased but who cares. Ronnie is below with Lola his new pal. Look out for her page. Vesna from Serbia has announced some fabulous news that Johnny (pic above) aka Lochranza Matador has gained his title of Serbian Champion. We congratulate Vesna on this achievement. Today at SKC Ellen Harman awarded Dolly her 3rd CC. This (subject to KC confirmation) will make Dolly our first homebred Show Champion. Thank you to everyone to their support during the last 20 months with Dolly and to her wonderful dad Olli aka ShCh Kyna By Request JW. Just a quick note to share Dolly’s latest show news. At East Of England Champ show this young lady won her 2nd CC and went on to get Best of Breed under Breed specialist Sam Whiting (Annilann). Obviously we are thrilled and hoping that the 3rd CC will happen, fingers and toes crossed. I have the greatest of pleasure on announcing that Betsy and Alfie are joining the Jayzander Show Team alongside Dolly and Ronnie. They have both attended their first champ shows and strutted their stuff with pride. Their owners are Teresa Walker and Tracey Sherlock respectively and the photos above are of them greeting each other at East Anglian Cocker Club show aged 7 months Since my last update on Dolly alot has happened and it really is time for me to announce what has happened. It was announced at Crufts that Dolly had officially won the Dorwest Herbs and Our Dogs Cocker Spaniel pup of the year. This followed a previous presentation of the cocker spaniel club pup of the year award. Pictures above show Dolly being presented with these awards. To top this up at 15 months old Dolly was awarded her first challenge certificate. I am absolutely thrilled and love this young lady so much. We feel it is time to introduce our latest star, Dolly aka Jayzander Maid By Request. Dolly hit the ring at 6 months old and quickly earned the nick name Dolly Pop. This young girl was rather fat to say the least, a proper chunky puppy with true puppy fat. She wobbled round the ring and from then on became known as Dolly Wobble Pop. Over the past 2 months she has proven to be a real character, losing some of her wobble but gaining buckets of attitude. She attended Leeds Champ show where she won BPIB, a few weeks later won the same award at Birmingham National and Richmond Championship show. The highlight so far had to be Birmingham National where she went on to win the gundog puppy group and entered the big ring to challenge for best puppy in show. She didn’t win the big award but we were rather chuffed to win the puppy group. The group judge was well respected all rounder Mr Andrew Brace and his critique in the dog press about Dolly is below for all to read. “Jayzander maid by request Blue roan cocker bitch who stood away here for her outstanding movement and sheer cockeriness. On the table a joy to go over, well boned, big ribbed and compact with a lovely head and flowing outline. Also she was one of the few to have obvious muscle tone. The kind of bitch any breeder would love to own.” |
