Yesterday (sun 17th July) we attended the annual cocker spaniel club championship dog show at Malvern in worcestershire. We took 5 dogs with us the youngest being Eddie and the oldest was Piers (above). It was Piers’ first time out in over 3 years and his first veteran class aged 7 years and 2 months old. It was a wonderful class of 15 veteran dogs all looking happy and in good health and Piers delighted the crowds by winning the class. He then went on to win best veteran in show. It was 6 years to the day that Piers became a champion at this very show. Not to be too outdone Beryl, Suzie and Eddie also won their classes, Eddie being entered in 2 classes and winning both. Curtis entered post graduate class for the first time having won his way out of Graduate and got a very respectable 4th place. My thanks must go to the 2 judges, Phillip Young (Canyonn Cockers) who judged the dogs and Mike Masters ( Manchela Cockers) judging the bitches. I came home with a handful of the lovely Cocker Club rosettes. The show also provided us with an opportunity to catch up with our friends from the uk and overseas which is always the highlight of the show. Great food, great company and lovely dogs, my idea of a great day out. Next week he starts his 3rd round of chemotherapy but so far so good. |
